Una Frances Davies Owen, 97

Una Frances Davies Owen passed away at her home surrounded by her loving family on October 23, 2025, in Wheatfield, Indiana.

Una was born on September 13, 1928, in Hoxie, Arkansas. Daughter of Monroe and Dessie Robinson Davies. Una married Raymond Lee Owen on November 10, 1947, in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas. They had two sons, Terry Ray and Rodney Jay. Una and Raymond were married 66 years when Raymond died April 6, 2014.

Una was a housewife most of her married life. She loved the outdoors, animals and birds, especially hummingbirds. She cared for her family, and they always came first.  Una lived in different places during her life such as Hoxie, Arkansas, Richmond, California, Rossville, Illinois, Gary, Indiana, Tucson, Arizona, Venice, Florida, Merrillville, Indiana and back to Rossville, Illinois where she lived until 2017.

Survivors include her Son, Terry Ray (Michele) Owen of Temple Terrace Florida, Grandsons: Jason Ray (Cortnie) Owen of Wheatfield, Indiana, John Owen of Temple Terrace, Florida, and Michael Loving of Wheatfield, Indiana. Granddaughter: Jenna Owen of Florida. Great-Grandchildren: Riley, Blake, Kelly Owen of Wheatfield, Indiana. Sister: Rosie June Gunnison of Georgia. Her Dear friend Priscillia Lovas of Wheatfield, Indiana. Many nieces and nephews whom she loved very dearly. Cherished pets: Austin and Duke, Dogs, Tinkerbell her cat, bunny, Thunder Thump.

Preceded in death by her parents, her husband Raymond, Son Rod Owen. Three brothers Artie Skeleton, Franklin and Richard Davies. Sister Wandalee Davies George and her very special niece Barbara Hill.

According to her wishes cremation rites will be arranged.  Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at Rossville Cemetery, with Pastor Jeremiah Hill officiating.  Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.  The family has entrusted the Blurton Funeral Home, in Hoopeston, to assist them in honoring Una’s life.  Condolences may be shared with her family on her memorial page at: www.BlurtonFuneralHomes.com.

Jason Alan Kinnaird, 49, of Hoopeston

Jason Alan Kinnaird, 49, of Hoopeston, IL, passed away at 9:09 A.M. Thursday, October 23, 2025, at his home. He was born September 6, 1976, in Danville, IL, the son of Ross and Sandra (Davis) Kinnaird. They survive in Hoopeston.

He is also survived by one daughter, Allyson Kinnaird; two sons, Hunter Kinnaird of Hoopeston, IL and Bryce Kinnaird of Texas; one sister, Beth Johnson (Shane Rice) of Danville, IL; two brothers, Brian (Missy) Kinnaird of Hoopeston, IL and Jacob (Cristen) Kinnaird of Gibson City, IL; one grandchild, Noah Michael Pierce; 7 nieces and nephews, Morgan and Breanna Johnson, Gage Jerome, and Brandon, Karsen, Joanna and Payton Kinnaird; and 8 great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his infant son; maternal grandmother, Beverly Jane Bivins; paternal grandparents, Jim and Betty Smithers; one aunt, Paula Hiser; and three uncles, Bobby Kinnaird Sr., Greg Smithers, and John Bartmess.

Jason worked in construction. He enjoyed coaching his son Hunter in baseball, going fishing, and spending time with his family and friends.

Cremation rites will be accorded, and a memorial service will be held at a later date.

Debra L. Burton, 68, of Wellington

Debra L. Burton, 68, of Wellington, IL, passed away at 1:05 A.M. Monday, October 20, 2025, at the Iroquois Resident Home in Watseka, IL. She was born August 16, 1957, in Danville, IL, the daughter of Robert and Edna (Fuller) Wardall. She married Arthur Jay Burton at the Hoopeston United Methodist Church. He survives.

She is also survived by one brother, Greg Wardall, and two nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Edna Wardall.

Debra worked as a CNA at the Hoopeston Hospital and then Knights Templar in Paxton. She later worked at Pizza King in Hoopeston for the Shipman family for 17 years, where she enjoyed visiting with her customers who were like family. She also loved draft horses and enjoyed tatting.

Cremation rites have been accorded, and a graveside service will be held at 10:30 A.M. Friday October 31, 2025, at Sugar Creek Cemetery in Milford, with Pastor Brent Zastrow officiating.

Suzanne Lawson, 80, of Hoopeston

Suzanne Lawson, 80, of Hoopeston, IL, passed away at 11:11 P.M. Saturday, October 18, 2025, at her home. She was born July 18, 1945, in Danville, IL, the daughter of Robert and Francis (Brown) McCrory. She married Michael Lawson on March 8, 1964, at the First Christian Church in Hoopeston. He preceded her in death on May 17, 2024.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Barb Snyder and one brother, Bobby McCrory.

She is survived by three daughters, Tonia Jo Lawson of Paris, IL, Lisa Kaye Martinez (Mark Mann) of Milford, IL, and Tracy Ann Lawson of Hoopeston, IL; 12 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Suzanne worked at American National Can, which later became Silgan, for over 30 years until her retirement. She enjoyed golfing, camping with her family, and cooking. She also enjoyed bowling and making blankets. Suzanne especially loved spending time with her family and friends.

Cremation rites will be accorded. Visitation will be held 11:00 A.M. – 1:00 P.M. Thursday October 30, 2025, at Anderson Funeral Home, 427 E. Main St. Hoopeston, IL. The memorial service will follow the visitation and will begin at 1:00 P.M. Thursday October 30th at the funeral home, with Pastor Micah Mobley officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Hill Cemetery in Hoopeston.

Sandra R. "Sandy" Kaufmann, 76, of Cissna Park

Sandra R. “Sandy” Kaufmann, 76, of Cissna Park passed away on Sunday, October 19, 2025 at Accolade Healthcare of Paxton on Pells. She was born on September 27, 1949 in Watseka, the daughter of Francis and Lillian (Dubbel) Kietzman. She married Sidney “Sid” Kaufmann in Gilman on April 6, 1969.

 

Surviving are her husband, Sid Kaufmann of Cissna Park; six children, Valerie (Todd) Kaeb of Cissna Park, Vickie (David) Maul of Rankin, Veronica Kaufmann of Cissna Park, Anthony (Megan) Kaufmann of Cissna Park, Lynnette (Chris) Rudin of Danville, and Renee Kaufmann of Cissna Park; two brothers, Rich (Diana) Kietzman and Steve (Maureen) Kietzman; two in laws, Bonnie Jean Kietzman and Gary Bradshaw; sixteen grandchildren; and fifteen great grandchildren with two on the way.

 

Sandy was preceded in passing by her parents, Francis and Lillian Kietzman; one brother, Don Kietzman; two sisters, Marsha Bradshaw and Beverly Horridge; two brothers in law, James Allen and Paul Horridge; and an infant daughter.

 

Sandy loved the Lord as her Savior and was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church of Cissna Park. She dedicated her days to serving Jesus, her family and those around her. Sandy enjoyed her days of caring for children with special needs at Wheeler’s Home Farm School. Sandy loved sewing, especially making quilts and pillowcases for her children and grandchildren whom she loved to spend time with. Gardening was a favorite pastime. She also had a love for fishing, spending summers in Wisconsin where she and Sid developed many friendships over the years.

 

Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 pm on Wednesday, October 22, 2025 at Knapp Funeral Home in Cissna Park. There will also be a 1 hour prior visitation to the funeral service on Thursday at church, from 9:00-10:00 am.

 

Funeral services will be at 10:00 am on Thursday, October 23, 2025 at Apostolic Christian Church in Cissna Park with ministers of the church officiating. Burial will follow at Apostolic Christian Cemetery in Cissna Park.

 

Memorials may be made to Harvest Call, ACCFS – Apostolic Christian Counseling and Family Services, or Harvest Call/CVE.

Mary Lou (Carlson) Means West Lebanon, IN, 92

Mary Lou (Carlson) Means went to be with the Lord at her home in West Lebanon, IN, on October 15, 2025, at the age of 92. She was born January 21, 1933, in Wellington, IL, to Swedish parents, Julius and Tillie (Johnson) Carlson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings, Louise Hodge, Esther Webb, Irene Carlson, Lloyd Carlson, and John Carlson; and her granddaughter, Casie Jo Wells.

She is survived by her three children, Connie (Dean) Bailiff of West Lebanon, IN, Cody (Brenda) Wells of Melbourne, FL, and Jackie (Larry) Hawk of West Lebanon, IN; her sister, Lillian Anderson of Hoopeston, IL; sister-in-law, Kay Carlson of Milford, IL; four grandchildren, Master Sergeant Alan Wells, Harley Hawk, Hailey McCarthy, and Jennifer Steinsdoerfer; five great-grandchildren, Parker Wells, Rhett, Luke, and Archer Hawk, and Waylon McCarthy; and many nieces and nephews.

Mary Lou enjoyed reading the Bible, watching old westerns, and playing euchre, 500 Rummy, and Chinese checkers. She loved living with her daughter Connie and her family, spending time with her son, Cody, in Florida, and going on ice cream runs with her daughter, Jackie. She ate chocolate every day claiming it was her Swedish heritage to do so. She also spent time as a volunteer at the American Legion. Mary Lou was loved and will be missed by all.

Ronald Dean Welker, 78, of New Port Richey, FL

Ronald Dean Welker, 78, of New Port Richey, FL, passed away at 1:43 A.M. Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL. He was born on August 17, 1947, in Monticello, IN, the son of Louis A. and Marjorie (Scales) Welker. He married Deborah Kay McCutchan on March 21, 1971, at the Martinton Church of Christ. She survives in New Port Richey, FL.

He is also survived by one daughter, Adrianne Coffman of California; one son, Adam (Melissa) Welker of New Port Richey, FL; one sister, Sharon Wiseman of Monticello, IN; one sister-in-law, Suzy Welker of Monticello, IN; six grandchildren, Salem Coffman, Koltyn Welker, Brittney Myers (Colin Carswell), Louis Welker, and Emma Welker; three great-grandchildren, Jaidyn Pate and Grayson and Ayla Carswell; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Sandy (Dennis) Randall and Linda (Tom) Brown; one brother, Richard “Dick” Welker; brother-in-law, Paul Wiseman; and grandson, Andrew Myers.

Ronald worked at Switches in Logansport, IN and later at Modine Manufacturing as a production supervisor. He was also a farmer and raised hogs. He loved his ’77 red Corvette and going to the Smoky Mountains. Ronald also enjoyed visiting Cade’s Cove and going fishing.

Cremation rites will be accorded, and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Glenn Alva Davis Sr., 95, of Danville

Glenn Alva Davis Sr., 95, of Danville, passed away on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at the home of his nephew David (Lisa) Davis, who was like a son to him.

Glenn was born on March 4, 1930, in Armstrong, IL, to John Donald and Ethel Alice (Arnold) Davis. He married Dorothy C. Owens on October 16, 1955, in Gifford, IL. She preceded him in death on October 25, 2010.

He is survived by his sister, Mary Boyer of Fort Collins, CO, along with several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents, Glenn was also preceded in death by his son, Glenn Jr., and three brothers: Loyale D., Ed, and Charlie Davis.

A 1948 graduate of Armstrong High School, Glenn began his career at Pilot Township, serving four years, followed by eight years at the State of Illinois Division of Highway. He later worked at Bohn in Danville for seven years before being elected Blount Township Road Commissioner, a position he proudly held for 21 years. Later, he rejoined Heatcraft (Bohn) as a supervisor until his retirement in 1996.

Glenn was actively involved in the Collison Masonic Lodge #714, Danville Scottish Rite, Gao Grotto, and Moose Lodge. His personal interests included attending auctions, working outdoors, camping, and spending time with David's family. Together in their younger years, he and Dorothy, enjoyed camping trips everywhere from Southern Illinois to Canada, and participating in bus tours across the United States.

In accordance with his wishes, cremation rites will be arranged. A graveside service will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 24, 2025, at Potomac Cemetery. Memorial donations in Glenn’s name may be made to the National MS Society. The family has entrusted Blurton Funeral Home in Potomac to assist in honoring Glenn’s life. Richard "Rick" E. Tucker, age 54, of Potomac

Richard “Rick” E. Tucker, age 54, of Potomac, passed away at his home on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at 7:02 p.m.

He was born on July 11, 1971, in Danville, IL, the son of Earl and Betty (Esworthy) Tucker. Rick was previously united in marriage to Patches Heron on May 7, 1995, in Alvin, Illinois.

He is survived by his daughter, Mekenzy Tucker (partner Knox King) of Kalamazoo, Michigan; sister, Jeana Tucker of Collison, Illinois; brother, Jeff Tucker (wife Brenda) of Fisher, Illinois; and niece, Amber (Jed) Fitzpatrick of Fisher, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his uncle, Jack Esworthy.

Rick graduated from Potomac High School. He was employed at Kraft Foods in Champaign for over two decades and most recently worked for Conagra in Henning. Rick had interests in hunting, fishing, boating, and spending time with his dogs. He also appreciated watching racing events and relaxing with a cold beverage.

Visitation is scheduled from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at Blurton Funeral Home in Potomac. Cremation rites will be arranged following the visitation. Memorial contributions may be made in Rick’s name to the Vermilion County Animal Shelter. The family has entrusted Blurton Funeral Home with assisting them in commemorating Rick’s life. Dianne Marie Bailey, 60, of Henning

 

Dianne Marie Bailey, 60, of Henning, IL passed away at 3:20 PM at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL on October 7, 2025.

 

Dianne was born on April 4, 1965, the daughter of LuVern Robert and Ellen Bernice (Moore) Brutlag in Danville, IL. She married Raymond Bailey on July 18, 1992, in Danville, IL and he preceded her in death on August 31, 2016.

 

Survivors include her stepchildren, Tyler (Heather) Bailey of Perrysville, IN and Shay Bailey of Danville, IL, seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, two sisters, Brenda (Mark) Thomas of Rossville, IL and Cheryl Davis of West Lebanon, IN, her stepmother, Joyce Brutlag of Danville, IL as well as lots of wonderful several nieces and nephews that were important in her life.

 

Dianne is preceded in death by her parents and husband, Raymond Bailey.

 

Dianne was a Hairdresser for many years. She was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers and enjoyed spending her free time gardening, swimming, camping, 4 wheeling and cooking.
 
A Celebration of Life will be held at 4:00 PM on Sunday, October 19, 2025, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, Illinois, 61834. Eric Thomas will officiate. Visitation will be held from 2-4:00 PM at the funeral home.

Richard "Ricky" Warren Whitlow, Jr., 63, of Armstrong

Richard “Ricky” Warren Whitlow, Jr., 63, of Armstrong, IL, passed away at 8:27 P.M. Sunday, October 12, 2025, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL. He was born May 15, 1962, in Glasgow, KY, the son of Richard E. and Ernestine (Cook) Whitlow Sr. He married Marsha Schultz on March 5, 2008, in Okaloosa Island, FL. She survives in Armstrong, IL.

He is also survived by two daughters, Cathy (Cory) Young of Armstrong, IL and Shauna Whitlow of Wellington, IL; three sons, Stanley (Nicole) Schultz of Rantoul, IL, Shane Schultz of Remington, IN, and Steven Schultz of Danville, IL; two sisters, Jo Marie Segura of Campbellsville, KY and Lova (Jerry) Kies of Spokane, WA; two brothers, Ronnie (Tammy) Whitlow of Gibson City, IL and Donnie (Jodi) Whitlow of Potomac, IL; 22 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Ricky worked at Brutlag Livestock for 33 years where he enjoyed working with his boss and life-long friend, Donald McCorkle. He was known for his contagious laugh and never knew a stranger. Ricky was also known for all the hogs he cooked and was a jack-of-all-trades as people often brought him projects as he could fix anything.

Cremation rites will be accorded. A celebration of life will be held at 12:00 P.M. Saturday, November 15, 2025, at the Potomac Community Center, 310 W. State St, Potomac, IL.

Howard Gaddis, 94, of Chatham, IL, formerly of Hoopeston

Howard Gaddis, 94, of Chatham, IL, formerly of Hoopeston, IL, passed away at 4:59 A.M. Sunday, October 5, 2025. He was born June 14, 1931, in Stockland, IL, the son of Norville R. and Margurite L. (Courtney) Gaddis. He married Betty Huckleby on February 24, 1951, at the First Baptist Church in Hoopeston.  He later married Marjorie E. (Baker) Judy on June 9, 1964, and she preceded him in death.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Sandra Kay Gaddis; three brothers, Tom, Jim, and Butch; and two brothers-in-law, Russell Anderson and Alvin Wilson.

He is survived by his children, David (Penny) Gaddis of Hoopeston, IL, Vickie Gaddis of Hoopeston, IL, Tammy (Keith) Hall of Springfield, IL, Rita South of Springfield, IL, and Jim (Kim) Judy of Ashley, IL; sister, Lulabell Anderson of Boswell, IN; step-sister, Leona Wilson; two sisters-in-law, Joy Gaddis and Barb Gaddis; brother, Rodney (Gina) Gaddis of Monticello, IN; step-brother, Raymond (Cathy) Galyen; five grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Howard served in the United States Army from 1949-1953. After returning home from the service, Howard owned and operated Gaddis Uptown Service and later Hoopeston Monument until his semi-retirement in 1990. He then worked part-time for several local farmers and ran a campground in Florida for several years. Howard was a member of the Chestnut Street Church of Christ in Hoopeston and a lifetime member of the Hoopeston American Legion Post #384, AMVETS, and the Hoopeston Lions Club where he served as chairman and co-chairman of their candy day for twenty years. He also served as the chairman of bingo at the Hoopeston American Legion for sixteen years. In 1997, Howard was awarded the volunteer of the year award for the Hoopeston Chamber of Commerce and in 1998 was inducted into the Hoopeston Hall of Fame.

Visitation will be held 10:00 – 11:00 A.M. Friday, October 10, 2025, at Anderson Funeral Home, 427 E. Main St., Hoopeston, IL. The funeral service will follow the visitation and will begin at 11:00 A.M. Friday at the funeral home, with Larry Baughn officiating. Burial will follow in Potomac Cemetery. Military rites will be accorded by the Hoopeston American Legion Post #384.

Olivia Bushong, the infant daughter of Nathaniel and Korin (Prefontaine) Bushong was received into God’s arms on Thursday, October 2, 2025. She was born May 28, 2025, in Lawton, OK.

She is survived by her parents; one sister, Brooklyn Bushong; grandparents, Suzanne (William) Phillips and Cory (Mary) Bushong; great-grandparents, Jim (Donna) Bushong, Edith Petry, and Patricia Parker; and aunts and uncles, Robert (Payton) Prefontaine, Aundrea Prefontaine, Brean Prefontaine, and Baylee Bushong.

Darin Dwayne Staley, 56, of Armstrong, passed away at 6:53 a.m. Thursday, October 2, 2025, at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born on May 5, 1969, in Danville, the son of Tom and Edna (Miller) Staley.  He married Tori Lester on November 27, 1987, in Charlottesville, Virginia.  She survives.

He is survived by his daughter, Cheyenne (Glenn Cronk) Staley of Rockville, IN; his son, Dakota (Rachel) Staley of Armstrong; six grandchildren: Gabriel Cronk, Grant Cronk, Sophia Staley, Charlotte Cronk, Gatlin Staley, and Gunner Cronk; his mother, Edna Staley of Georgetown, IL; his brother, Eric Staley of Champaign, IL; three sisters: Theresa Pittman of Potomac, IL, Anita (Alan) Gash of Georgetown, IL, and Deneen (Peter) Hunold of Baltimore, OH; three brothers-in-law: Jesse (Vickie) Lester of Arkansas, Clint Lester of Tennessee, and Wesley Harrison of Illinois; two sisters-in-law: Megean (Robert) Jones of Tennessee and Delta (John) Koontz of Illinois; as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, uncle- Buddy Miller, aunt- Carolyn Miller and cousin- Buddy Miller Jr.

Darin graduated from Potomac High School in 1987 and subsequently attended Parkland College, where he earned his Commercial Driver's License (CDL). He spent several years employed as a truck driver with OTL and a majority of his life running Staley Trucking. Darin enjoyed fishing, driving, and appreciated relaxing on his back porch while spending quality time with his family. His hobbies included watching NASCAR, collecting gas cans, and piddling around on his tractor.

In accordance with his wishes, cremation rites will be arranged. A Memorial Gathering is scheduled from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 12, 2025, at the Potomac Community Building located at 310 W. State St., Potomac, IL.
